Digital Learning Day Practice on January 3rd

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In preparation for increasing our school usage of eCLASS, we would like to assess or “test” capabilities while students are at home by completing a practice activity in eCLASS over the winter holiday break.

By completing this practice activity, we hope to:
• Assure all students know how to log in to their teacher’s eCLASS page and are able to complete assignments while at home
• Assist parents in knowing how to navigate to the Student Portal to support their student in completing assignments via their teacher’s eCLASS page
• Gain an idea of the amount of access our students have at home (Internet access, access to a device to complete the activity, etc…)

During this practice activity, each classroom and special area teacher at our school will be posting a simple activity on his or her eCLASS page for your child to complete at home.

When: This practice activity will occur on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. This is the last day of winter break for our students. Teachers will post their assignment by 9:00 AM. We request that students complete the activity that day between the hours of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Teachers will be monitoring their page between 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM if students or parents have any questions.

What: The name of the activity that we would like your student to access is ‘Digital Learning Day Practice’. The activity will be posted in the ‘News (Announcements)’ section of the teacher’s eCLASS page. Students will be asked to view an educational video and then answer a discussion question. It is our hope that the completion rate for students will approach 100%.

Students will be completing two activities: one created by his/her homeroom teacher and one created by a special area teacher

Kindergarten: Art – Mrs. Freeman
1st Grade: Math – Mrs. Cash
2nd Grade: Science – Mrs. Tritt
3rd Grade: eCLASS Tech Special – Mrs. Williams
4th Grade: PE – Mrs. Fowler
5th Grade: Music – Mrs. Hartman

If you have multiple students attending Ferguson Elementary, each student is expected to participate. This means each student will need to log in to his or her Student Portal/My eCLASS page individually.

Other Details: While at school, all of our students have accessed their teacher’s eCLASS page and have answered a discussion question. If your child has any trouble with the process, you can find a video tutorial on how to access eCLASS pages by visiting our website.

If your child has trouble accessing his/her teacher’s course page after following the tutorial, please contact your child’s teacher.
